Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my home suitable for a heat pump?

Most East Sussex homes can work well with a heat pump, but every home is different. We carry out a technical suitability assessment — including a heat loss calculation and a look at your existing radiators — before recommending anything.

Why does the hot water cylinder go outside?

The Greener Pod is a factory-built, insulated external plant room. It houses the hot water cylinder and essential heating equipment outside your home, so you keep the cupboard or utility space a conventional installation would take.

What government grants are available?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers £7,500 towards qualifying air source heat pump installations, with a temporary £9,000 uplift for eligible off-gas homes replacing oil or LPG until 31 March 2027. Eligibility depends on your property, the installation and the scheme rules — the certified installer applies and deducts the grant from the cost of a qualifying installation.

Will my radiators need upgrading?

Possibly. Heat pumps run at lower flow temperatures than boilers, so some radiators may need to be upsized to keep rooms comfortable. This is checked as part of the design assessment and included in your tailored quotation where needed.

What does the installation involve?

After the home assessment and design, the installation team fits the heat pump and Pod, connects the prepared pipework and electrical supply, then commissions the complete system and hands it over with the controls set up for your home.

Where does the Pod sit?

The Pod sits outside against a suitable wall, close to where the heating pipes enter your home. The exact position is agreed during your property assessment — not every position works for every home, so we confirm this with you before any work is quoted.
